Looking at bots with Furio Tedeschis' workshop - hard surface sculpting. Decided to do a quick paint over a full body medi-bot - and helm variations.
Below that the start of some sort of a heavy which may be the more sensible one to start off with when learning the shape language - as a hard ass mech might be more sensible to start off with to get my head around the techniques that Furio uses then go back to the medi-bot.
Week one is all about playing with the tools - insert brushes, hpolish and the usual favourites - clay and damn standard brushes.
I finally have my set up my workstation the way I always wanted, 2D on the left - Cintiq 12wx, (old tech but great for what I do in 2D - screen area is proportional to workload).... and on the right 3D land, wirless Intous pro 13, which will be used for 3D - Modo. Maya, 3Dcoat and of course ZBrush.
Stoked because it all works togethr - was really getting irritated with my hands in the way in 3d land, went back to my Intous, then really missed drawing on screen for my digital painting stuff - now I have the win win scenario - and yeas I know I could set the Cintique to slave on my main screen - but I like this division of hardware/tools/mindset.
The Zendai biped, from the Luyten 726-8 system are also known as sick licker's, are well loved by fetishists with well stocked bestiaries, as their bodies exude a lubricant, while extremely toxic enhances the senses (all the senses). More pics to come.
The mis-named Daffys predator dog (canis rapax) of Orion 5 is actually a carrion eater similar to the earth Hyena or vulture, whilst the spines of these creatures are poisonous they are only ever used in defence and despite their fierce appearance make wonderful pets (if you can stand their breath and propensity to drool when excited).
More detailing to come - more work needed on skin pores and wrinkles. Then final renders and then put this baby to bed.
Reworking an older concept sculpt that I started back in 3DCoat, now re-working it in ZBrush, and exploring some colour concepts in Photoshop. Aiming to finish up with a fully rendered model for Monday. Creature back story to come.
Its been a while since my last wip/blog post - wanted to get this one finished off for a while, she has been sitting in my unfinished folder for a while. I will finish up the sculpt, texture painting and posing tomorrow night - really enjoying the kelp/hair in ZBrush - finish it up in Z Brush - not going for full realism in the final render and Z Brush can hold up pretty well if you play with the render settings and passes in photoshop. Weirdly enough she is looking a bit Yolandi Visser in the face right now, I will probably push her facial features more into the animal/fish for the final version.
VFX artist and sometimes animator, this is my blog.
