The mis-named Daffys predator dog (canis rapax) of Orion 5 is actually a carrion eater similar to the earth Hyena or vulture, whilst the spines of these creatures are poisonous they are only ever used in defence and despite their fierce appearance make wonderful pets (if you can stand their breath and propensity to drool when excited).
Reworking an older concept sculpt that I started back in 3DCoat, now re-working it in ZBrush, and exploring some colour concepts in Photoshop. Aiming to finish up with a fully rendered model for Monday. Creature back story to come.
I have had this guy sitting in an old folder for while, I have been wanting to finish him off for a while. I recon I am about 70% there, I am not planning on texturing him up, but do want to give him a proper mustache and hair (pores too), now that I am happy with the general look. I started him in 3DC a while back - rebuilt the base mesh, spent 6 tentative hours on him today and will finish him off by next week . Slowly does it it seems.
I have been workingon this guy for a while - modeling up a hyper muscled man thing (Troglodyte is my working title for character- I was based him off of early Urukai/cave troll concept sketchs )
My aim is to eventually rig this character up aiming to demonstrait a knowledge of anatomy, modelling for deformation and quality skinning/rigging in Maya (as well as good texturing – a given) for my reel.
Busy working on the the base 3DCoat sculpt long before I retopo and take into Zbrush for detailing - I have been looking at reference of a wierd body building phenomina called roidgut - where the abdomen is distended but still muscled - I wanted a strong mans big belly not just pure fat, it will probably hang more in the finished version and a little softer looking than it currently is.
VFX artist and sometimes animator, this is my blog.
