Heavy man ; Proportions update

5/18/2013

A quick  update  on the  proportions of the  heavy man, now definitely more ape-like, looking at some concept work for Mr Hyde from Leage of Extraordinary Gentleman for proportions ( no  genitalia at  this stage,  that will come  with  the detailing) .

New proportions on right, now more of a knuckle dragger.

Heavy Man: Proportions re-think.

Well, finally back to to an older sculpt, originally blocked out and re-topo-ed in 3DCoat and now working in  Zbrush. Yes I have  been looking at a lot of hulk sculpts and insanely proportioned body builders out there, but I am still unsure of where I want  to take this guy. He is currently about 7 heads tall, longer arms than is normal (even for a  hulk wanna -be), so I guess I better start with a back story, so bear with me.

OK -  The Troglodyte AKA Heavy man, lives in  the jungles of central Africa, a giant hairless (albino) apelike creature with a taste  for vegetables and when available human flesh. As intelligent as your average human, he and his clan have avoided contact for centuries, whispered of as the great white ape around smoky camp-fires of the Pygmy people (not be  confused with the colonials - who were known as the lesser great white ape by  the indigenous). A skilled jungle hunter and forager who stands 9ft  high in Tapir loincloth (to be sculpted).

So from that (plus some knowledge filtering down from the Scott Eaton class)  I think I need to ape him up a lot more, change increase the proportional differences between him and a human being- still a little too human at the moment. So will keep posting.

A question of scale: Super human villain or make him more ape like?

I have  just started with Scott Eatons anatomy classes. I have just started doing the  studying/drawing Human Anatomy on-line classes, which will be  completed  over the next eight weeks.

If you are interested in Scott's' courses look here:

Anyway back to watching, looking, reading and understanding (and drawing or course - its  been a while since I have  done that!).
